To the right is a picture of me (there’ll be more later if you really want to see more...)
As you can see I am a Caucasian type, French by birth and ancestry, with some years behind me (I’m currently 51) and I go by an unusual name: it’s Sanskrit actually, more on that below.
What isn’t immediately apparent are such things as: I am a follower of the Buddha’s Dharma; I can speak/read/understand two languages: French –my ‘mother tongue’– and English; I have suffered from a fairly severe polio attack when a baby and my two passions are the Dharma and computers. You can read more in the bio.
Why?
Now what’s this blog for? Well I’d like to see a few things come out of this exercise.
First it is my hope to create a forum where visitors and I will engage into an on-going dialogue about my views and position vis-à-vis the spiritual path I have chosen to tread. And out of that forum I can see the discussion extending to more general Dharma questions and answers.
Primarily of course the purpose of this endeavour is to explain what particular aspect of my practice that I am currently working with, and what the visitors to this blog can do to help me in that process, for the benefit of all.
So what is this purpose? For the past few years, I have progressively retired from the ‘workforce’ –in the job/salary– sense, and increasingly dedicated my time to providing IT expertise to organisations that cannot otherwise afford it at regular market prices. The basis is very simple: I do not charge a fixed amount, I simply accept whatever is given to me for the work; the agreement being ‘you pay me what, and/or if, you can afford.’
One Important point to add here is that I am selective in the choice of who I work for. And the prime criterion is whether my work will help towards the betterment of human beings, materially, spiritually and otherwise. So far I have to say that I have had the privilege of working with people of great integrity and dedication. You can view some of the projects I am involved with (or have been) on the right of this page.
Now the reality of it is the people for whom I have done work until now can afford very little, if at all. They are not large charities running telethons or hiring a group of fundraisers to go knock on doors. They are little groups of people, mostly volunteers themselves, they saw a need and they responded to it. In a similar way, they need an expertise I can provide, I respond to that need.
Until now I have been able to finance this ongoing project (see my bio.) A simple life with small overheads have allowed the funds I had at my disposal to sustain me. As from the end of October 2010 this will change as my bank account will be near depleted. Consequently I am offering you, kind visitors, the opportunity to participate in this great adventure, to help me help those in need.
All you have to do is click the donate button. Your gift will be received with immense gratitude, by me and indirectly by all who will benefit from the work your generous donation will allow me to do. This is truly generosity at the service of generosity.
Thank you, and may we all find that which we truly seek.
